Middle Oconee River Greenway Draft Zone Map









The mission of the Athens-Clarke County Greenways is to identify, protect and create a series of corridors that provide opportunities for conservation, preservation, education, transportation and recreation. Additionally, these corridors provide opportunities for individuals and families to experience nature in a variety of ways while linking parks, neighborhoods, points of interest and activity centers.

We are currently working on mapping the important corridors for Athens-Clarke County Greenways. There are three levels of maps that correspond to this process. The first is a large scale county wide map that identifies our highest priority corridors. You can view this map by clicking here.
 

The high priority corridors have been broken down into manageable sized parts. They are the Northern Section of the North Oconee River, the Southern Section of the North Oconee River and the Middle Oconee River. There are two types of maps associated with this level of the planning and mapping process. The first is a zone map that identifies the various types of zones that make up the Greenway Corridor (please review page 6-7 of the Greenway Network Plan Document). The second is a buildout map that identifies the general proposed location of potential transportation routes.

The zone map for the Southern Section of the North Oconee River is complete. The buildout map is currently being drafted. We plan to start facilitating public input this winter.
